JANESVILLE JETS WRITE-UPS
Some of the more exciting and interesting recaps and stories from the past two seasons with the Janesville Jets. I composed all written content for the Jets the last two years.
Bergmann Posts Strong 22-Save Outing in Friday’s Loss
JANESVILLE, WI — Friday’s weather in Janesville was some of the best we’ve seen since the snow decided to cease *knock on wood*. It was the annual End of Season tailgate, the sun was shining, and the mood was upbeat. A perfect prerequisite and foreshadowing of what would go on inside the doors of the Janesville Ice Arena later that night. Annelies Bergmann made history by throwing on her Team USA leg pads, blocker, trapper, and all-white mask and skating on to become the first female to ever play in a USA Hockey Tier I or II hockey game.
Jets First-Ever Draft Pick Jack LaFontaine Signs Contract with Carolina Hurricanes; Could Debut This Weekend
RALEIGH, NC — The first-ever NHL Draft Pick in Jets franchise history is set to make his debut in the big leagues this week. Alum goaltender Jack LaFontaine signed an entry-level contract with the team that selected him 75th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, the Carolina Hurricanes, this past Sunday.
Not Done Yet; Destefani Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive with Overtime Winner
SPRINGFIELD, IL — In as thrilling of fashion as possible, the Jets stayed in the playoff picture with an overtime win over the Springfield Jr. Blues on Friday night. The season will literally come down to the wire in the final game of the regular season. The Anchorage Wolverines are in after winning over the Minnesota Magicians last night. Still, the Chippewa Steel lent a helping hand to the Jets with a dominant 7-2 win over the Minnesota Wilderness to make the final contest a sure-to-be nailbiter.
Jets Post Perfect 4-0 Record at NAHL Showcase for Second Time in Franchise History
BLAINE, MN — The Janesville Jets opened the 2022-23 season from the annual NAHL Showcase last week, and left without a loss. For only the second time in the team’s 14-year history, the Jets swept the competition and recorded a flawless 4-0 record. The wins weren’t easy write-offs, either; three of their four opponents finished the 2021-22 season with at least 70 points. A small sample size of games, sure, but there is much to be excited about after the strong showing from this Jets squad.
Jets Extend Head Coach Parker Burgess, Promote to Assistant General Manager
JANESVILLE, WI — The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have extended the contract of head coach Parker Burgess and promoted him to Assistant General Manager. General Manager Joe Dibble and assistant coach Ryan Black will also return next season.
Jets Make Magicians Offense Disappear in Friday Victory
RICHFIELD, MN — The Jets secured a crucial 5-1 win over the Minnesota Magicians on Friday night to stay close in the playoff hunt. The Anchorage Wolverines won over the Chippewa Steel, keeping the points deficit for Janesville at two. They can secure a sweep over the Magicians with a win, who are playing their final game in Richfield, Minnesota, before moving to Eagle River, Wisconsin.
